Golden Week e indecisione

Siamo alla fine di aprile, dovrebbe essere primavera inoltrata, dovrebbe splendere il sole per riscaldare i cuori, le temperature dovrebbero alzarsi per scongelare i muscoli, i fiori dovrebbero sbocciare per portare benessere psicofisico. Niente di tutto ciò. A parte una fioritura dei ciliegi abbastanza prematura e breve, spazzata via dai venti e dalle insistenti piogge primaverili, inusuali per questo periodo. E assieme al floricidio di massa, anche l'ombrellicidio di massa. Che poi, dico, se proprio c'è vento l'ombrello è inutile, quindi io ormai neanche lo porto più. Ma molti giappi, che guai a far prendere due gocce d'acqua alle loro sofisticate pettinature, non ci pensano neanche di lasciare l'ombrello a casa, e poi si ritrovano a rischiare di essere portati via...

Stavolta, complice l'arrangiamento delle festività che vede un lunedì lavorativo in mezzo a una domenica e un martedi festivo, ho deciso che faccio ponte, così da avere un lungo fine settimana davanti, già peraltro ricco di eventi a cui partecipare.

Purtroppo oggi, sabato, è arrivata di nuovo la pioggia, per cui invece di andarmi a divertire sfruttando il tempo che ho a disposizione, mi tocca restare a casa e ne approfitto per aggiornare questo spazio e anche per pianificare il blocco festivo successivo. Eh, si perchè in effetti la voglia di visitare un pò il Giappone c'è, a dispetto del lievitare dei prezzi e a dispetto delle moltitudini di persone che saranno ovunque.

Siccome fare una vera e propria vacanza da qualche parte lontano, con tanto di pernottamenti vari, sarebbe un suicidio economico, l'idea sarebbe di andare in località a distanze ragionevoli, così da andare la mattina e tornare la sera. Le due località più gettonate sono Nikko, paradiso della tradizione millenaria e regno dei templi tra i più antichi del Giappone, a nord di Tokyo e Hakone, rinomata stazione termale e famoso punto di osservazione per ammirare il vicinissimo monte Fuji, a sud-ovest di Tokyo. Oppure, nonostante tutto, decidere per uno dei due posti ma rimanerci più di un giorno, così da sentire e avere la sensazione di essere in vacanza, nell'attesa che arrivi il giorno in cui potrò crogiolarmi al sole tropicale di Okinawa, la più meridionale delle isole giapponesi, tra palme e spiagge finissime.

Here I am, late April, and it's supposed to be full spring, the sun should shine and warm up hearts, temperatures should start to get higher and higher to free muscles, flowers should blossom and bring wellness. None of that. But a quite premature and short cherry blossom. Flowers have been blown away by atypical winds and heavy rains. And after all flowers, this weather kills all umbrellas too. I still don't get it, I mean, why do the Japanese bring their umbrellas in the strong winds...they are useless, and end up being broken. But, heh, protecting the hairstyle from even one drop of rain is worth the loss of an umbrella.

This time, having one working day in between two holidays, I decided to take the Monday off in order to have a long long weekend filled with events. Today though, Saturday, unfortunately it is raining AGAIN, and so I'd rather stay home updating my space and planning the next holidays, than going out and enjoy my time.

I want to visit Japan, even with the raise in prices and costs during the golden week and with the multitude of people being around and everywhere being packed. Going somewhere far enough to require some nights stay can be a financial suicide, and so the idea would be to go somewhere reasonably close to be done in one day. The two most likely spots would be Nikko, north Tokyo, or Hakone, south-west Tokyo. The former is the historical site with some of the most ancient temples, the latter is a famous spot for hot springs and optimal deck to see mount Fuji.

Or, after all, I can decide for one of the two and stay over for a few nights, so to have the feeling of being on vacation, looking forward to the day I can be in Okinawa, the tropical most southern Japan island, tanning under the sun, laying on a dreamy beach.
