蛙 (kaeru), the frog of luck

Proprio oggi ho preso il piccolo portafortuna a forma di rana che tengo nel portafoglio da circa 3 anni, portafortuna preso a Nikko e che mi ha protetto per tutti questi anni. La nota che accompagna il portafortuna dice che: i soldi che ho speso ritornano, faro' rientro a casa in sicurezza, gli eventi negativi cambieranno in positivo. Proprio oggi che avevo bisogno di un supporto morale.

Come ben sapete abbiamo avuto un po' di problemi per via di un piccolo terremoto che ha scatenato uno tsunami che ha investito una centrale nucleare che ha rilasciato radioattivita' nell'aria e nell'acqua che ha mandato nel panico mezzo mondo. E direi che ci e' andata bene sinora. Dunque, per via ,dicevo, di questo terremoto, non solo molti di noi sono andati via dal Giappone per un po',dovendosi organizzare alla bell'e meglio e dovendo fare i conti col temibile sistema burocratico giapponese, piu' rigido di un'asse di ebano....non solo...le ripercussioni continuano a piu' di un mese dal sisma...

Avevo programmato una vacanza in Italia da meta' aprile a meta' maggio, e all'approcciarsi della data della partenza vengo informata dalla compagnia aerea che il mio volo e' stato cambiato - ovvero i voli di linea per tutto il mese- e ora mi tocca stare nel mio aeroporto di transito per una notte, sia all'andata, sia al ritorno. Beh, non male, direte voi, no? Un'occasione per visitare una nuova citta'. Beh, non quando la compagnia si chiama AirChina che transita a Pechino dove non ci sono hotel in aeroporto e per lasciare l'aeroporto c'e' bisogno del visto.....non considerando il fatto che poi ci sarebbe da sostenere spese extra, come mangiare e bere, spostarsi (dando per certo che la compagnia copra le spese dell'albergo, quanto meno!), o come ultima alternativa cancellare il volo perdendoci i soldi. In sostanza, quando ormai mi rassegnavo a passare due meravigliose notti su una panca dell'aeroporto internazionale di Pechino, quelli dell'agenzia mi dicono che invece e' possibile cambiare tutto, con semplice aggiunta della differenza di prezzo per, signore e signori, un volo KLM, stessa data di partenza, stessa data di ritorno, ma piu' breve e di certo meno laborioso sotto molti aspetti.

Proprio oggi che guardavo la rana nel mio portafogli...

Right today I took the tiny frog lucky charm I keep in my wallet since 3 years, a charm I got in Nikko and protected me for all these years. The note with the charm says: the money I spend comes back, I go back home safely, bad things will turn into good things. Right today when I needed some support.

As you know we had some problems due to a earthquake that generated a tsunami that hit a nuclear plant that released radioactivity in the air and water that made people all over the world panic. And I might say we are good so far. Anyway, because of, I was saying, this quake, not only many of us left Japan for a while -organizing things as better as possible and dealing with a very strict bureaucratic system- but also there are troubles still one month after the shock....

I had planned a vacation in Italy form mid April to mid May, and when the departure date approached I was informed by the airplane company that my flight has been changed -meaning all daily flights for the whole month- so now I gotta stop over at my connecting airport for one night, both on the way to Italy and on the way back. Well, not too bad you would say, would you? A chance to visit a new city. Uhm, not when the airline is AirChina that has connecting flight sin Beijin where there is no hotel in the airport and to leave the airport I need a visa.....not to mention the fact that I should pay extra money for food, drinks, moving around (taking for granted that the company pays for the hotel at least!), or eventually cancel the flight and lose the money. Anyway, when I was already in that status of mind, ready to spend two wonderful nights at Beijin International airport, at the agency say that I can change my flight, by just topping up the price for a, ladies and gentlemen, KLM flight, same schedule but shorter and for sure less troublesome.

Right today that I was noticing the frog in my wallet....
