Molti dei miei amici salseri, tra le altre cose, non hanno potuto raggiungere il centro, visto che a causa del vento forte molte linee dei treni hanno subito ritardi o sono state fermate del tutto.
Alla fine, pero', la pioggia sembrava passata e così ho deciso di uscire nonostante tutto. Pessima idea, sembrava, visto che a Tokyo pioveva ancora, e pure forte. I miei stivali erano completamente zuppi e io imprecavo in quindici lingue….
Destinazione Daikanyama, un quartierino posh vicino Shibuya, pieno di bar e locali interessanti. Un amico festeggiava il suo compleanno al XEX Bar, dentro il complesso La Fuente. Un posto molto molto carino, piccolo, con un bar ad angolo fornitissimo, camerieri giapponesi e stranieri, luci soffuse, una selezione di vini e spumanti da fare invidia messa al sicuro dietro una parete di vetro. Da tornarci soprattutto in estate per godere del terrace bar, così da spendere qualche ora di relax con amici anche all'aria aperta, con un occhio sulla città che non dorme mai.
Se poi amate essere viziati con un po' di musica dal vivo, allora XEX Bar e' il posto giusto: mi chiedevo proprio se qualcuno suonasse quel pianoforte, quando un paio di americani che stavano al bar, con cui abbiamo scambiato due chiacchiere, si alzano e iniziano a intrattenerci. Niente di esagerato, un bel po' di successi del passato cantati da una bellissima voce, e arrangiati da un bravo pianista. Li trovate qui il venerdi e il sabato.
Domenica 27 Novembre un altro gentleman originario di Detroit ma residente a Osaka sarà l'ospite del giorno....sono tentata, devo essere sincera. Se qualcuno e' interessato mi faccia sapere che si va!
Finalmente intorno alle 2 della mattina la pioggia se ne va, e io e i miei amici ci imbuchiamo in un taxi per ballare salsa le ultime ore che ci separano dal primo treno della domenica….

Saturday's pouring rain discourages many of us to go out, and in facts, at the beginning, I thought to cancel my plans too, in favor of a quiet night at home.
Many of my salsa friends, among the other things, couldn't reach the city because of the strong winds that stopped may train lines and delayed others.
But, in the end, the rain seemed to have gone, so I decided to go out anyway. Worst idea ever, apparently, seen that in Tokyo it was still raining, heavy raining. My boots got completely soaked and I was swearing in fifteen languages….
Destination: Daikanyama, a posh area near Shibuya, full of interesting bars. A friend was celebrating his birthday at XEX Bar, inside La Fuente building. Very very nice place, small, well equipped bar in a corner, foreign and Japanese staff, soft lights, huge wines and sparkling wines collection secured behind a glass wall. Envy! It's a place to go back to, especially in summer to enjoy the terrace bar, so to spend a few hours chilling with friends in the open air, with a glance at the city that never sleeps.
If, then, you like to be spoiled with live music, XEX Bar is your place: I was just wandering about who might play that piano, when a couple of Americans, whom I also had a nice chat, stood from the bar and started the entertainment. Nothing too exaggerate, just some old hits sang by a nice voice and accompanied by a good pianist. You'll find them there on Fridays and Sundays.
Sunday Nov 27th, another Detroit-born, Osaka resident gentleman will be the guest..I am tempted to go, I gotta be honest. If someone is interested let me know and we go.
Eventually, around 2am the rain stops and me and my friends crash into a cab to go and dance salsa for the last couple of hours before the first train….
