The best place - Il posto migliore

Minato Mirai, baia di Yokohama e' il posto migliore. OK, vero, non sono stata a casa tutto il giorno come avevo detto...ma era un giorno spettacolare, che chiamava per una passeggiata fuori, e tra le altre cose c'era un amico al centro conferenze di Yokohama per il TICAD (conferenza internazionale sullo sviluppo dell'Africa) e quindi sono uscita e sono passata di li a salutare. Eddai, non sto cercando scuse.

Ho camminato dalla stazione di Yokohama verso la baia, una passeggiata di 20 minuti circa attraverso negozi, viali, palazzi, parchi, lungomare...e ho deciso che si, se vivessi in questa zona sarei (più) contenta. Minato Mirai e' la migliore combinazione tra alti palazzi e spazi aperti, storia (il porto di Yokohama e' stato tra i primi ad accogliere stranieri, il tocco europeo e' ovunque), cultura ( grandi musei), architettura (bel mix di moderno e vecchio, di grande stile e minimalismo), relax (aree pedonali ben curate, bar all'aperto dove ricaricarsi), cibo (oh, la schiera di locali e ristoranti!!), affari e conoscenze (un buon centro conferenze), musica e tradizioni (i vari festival a Aka Renga e nei dintorni), divertimento, intrattenimento, attività all'aria aperta (parchi belli e tranquilli, la zona costiera, il porto con il suo lungo ormeggio), acquisti (quanto ne vuoi). Che chiedere di più? Tutto questo a un passo di distanza, e se proprio si vuole un po forzare la mano si può allungare e passeggiare fino a Chinatown e le sue stradine illuminate dalla luce delle lanterne rosse.

Cioe', tutto e' li, quindi trovate un po' di tempo, andate e guardate intorno. Una volta che avrete visto, vorreste vivere li, dove tutto questo e' a vostra disposizione ogni giorno, a ogni ora.

C'e' una cosa: il vento. Che soffia costantemente.

Eh, nessun posto e' perfetto.

Minato Mirai, Yokohama bay area is the best place to be. OK, yes, I did not couch surf the whole day as I said I would do on Sunday....it was a superb day, screaming for a walk outside, and in addition a friend of mine was at the conference center in Yokohama for the TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development), so I went out and showed up to say hi. Come on, I am not making up excuses here.

I walked from Yokohama station to the bay area, a nice 20 min stroll through shops, wide boulevards, tall buildings, parks, seaside....and I decided that yes, if I lived there, I'd be happy(er). Minato Mirai is the best combination of high rise buildings and open space, history (the port of Yokohama was among the first to open to foreigners, the European touch is everywhere), culture (great museums), architecture (nice mix of modern and old, of stylish and minimal design), relax (nicely curated walk paths and squares, open air cafes where to chill), food (oh, the restaurants and bars scene!), business and networking (fine conference center), music and traditions (festivals at Aka Renga and around), amusement, entertainment, outdoorsy stuff (quiet and beautiful parks, seaside, the pier), shopping (as much as you can take). What else to ask for? All this, within waking distance, and if you really feel like pushing it, you can visit the nearby Chinatown and its charming streets lit by the light of red lanterns.

Everything is just there, take some time, go and look around yourself. You'd wish you lived there once you're there where all of this can be available to you every day, any time.

There's one thing though: the wind. Blowing constantly. 

Well, nowhere is perfect.
